• A five-year-old girl riding a scooter was struck by a car at approximately 1:30 p.m. near Kerman Street and Countess Avenue.
• North Port Police said the child apparently entered the street and traveled into the vehicle's path.
• The child was not wearing a helmet, according to police.
• She was airlifted to a hospital and remained in critical condition the following day.
• The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
